Looking Back at the CWI Holiday Fundraiser

Looking back at this holiday fundraiser for CWI, there are a lot of elements that would work for any non-profit.

Several years prior, I built the American Craft Studio website for the Compassionate Women Initiative. We connected through a referral from a shop owner that bought their goods wholesale. The Craft Studio is a sustainable project — part of their ministry in Uganda. Essentially, the sales of the crafts go back into funding their mission. It allows them to train and pay local women — helping them support their families.

About the Craft Studio

CWI Craft Studio USA is an extension of the Compassionate Women Initiative in Uganda. One of our sustainable projects, the craft studio allows us to train and empower women, men, and youth that we serve. We use the profits to support CWI ministry projects — with the hope that we will not need outside funding sources in the future.

Kusasira Christmas Holiday Fundraiser Campaign

This holiday season, we decided to run our first online sale for the craft studio. My team selected and photographed products and uploaded them to their website. Then, we developed a campaign to promote the fundraiser and encourage holiday purchases. This included email blasts, church bulletin inserts, and social media posts. The campaign ran for about 2 months and ended with appreciation emails for the shoppers and supporters.

Key Message

This holiday season, we’ve launched a collection for CWI’s “Kusasira Christmas”. Kusasira means “compassion” — capturing the meaning of our ministry and embodying the true spirit of Christmas. We hope you’ll plan to buy some of your holiday gifts, decor, and Christmas cards with us this year. Everything you buy supports our ministry in Uganda and grow our craft studio.
